The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured a major political gain in Azad Kashmir.
Former member of the Azad Kashmir Assembly, Raja Mujahid, has announced his decision to join the party. Raja Mujahid, a former lawmaker of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, declared his inclusion in PML-N Azad Jammu and Kashmir along with his associates. The ceremony was attended by Federal Ministers Engineer Amir Muqam and Hanif Abbasi.
Addressing the gathering, Federal Minister for Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs, Amir Muqam, said that political figures continue to join PML-N in Azad Kashmir under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif. He said people are uniting and remain aware that the party will continue its work in the future. He added that the public regard Nawaz Sharif as an advocate of Kashmir.
Muqam said Nawaz Sharif had stated that Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan should receive a share under the National Finance Commission. He said that whenever development schemes are discussed, it is acknowledged that they were initiated by PML-N. He expressed respect for the Joint Action Committee and said talks were held for the betterment of Kashmir.
On the occasion, party leader Hanif Abbasi welcomed the new entrants into PML-N. He said the party would secure success in the forthcoming elections in Azad Kashmir and would play its full role in the region’s politics.
It is pertinent to note that elections for the Azad Kashmir Assembly are scheduled for July this year. Former Chief Justice of the Azad Kashmir High Court, Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, has been appointed as Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Kashmir.
