Senator Faisal Vawda on Monday warned that governor’s rule may be imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if PTI leader Sohail Afridi fails to follow the right path.
Speaking exclusively to Samaa News, he also clarified that the notification of the Chief of Defence Forces is pending the Prime Minister’s return.
Senator Vawda said the federal government does not want to impose Governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, he warned that if Sohail Afridi continues to defy directives, Governor’s rule may become inevitable.
He added that its duration would extend beyond the usual two to four months if necessary, emphasizing strict adherence to the High Court’s order.
Vawda stressed that the KP Chief Minister must run his government responsibly. “Even an inch of mistake after the High Court order can lead to disqualification,” he warned, underlining the serious consequences of non-compliance.
CDF notification awaited
Regarding the Chief of Defence Forces’ notification, Vawda explained that the delay is due to awaiting the Prime Minister’s return. “There will be a notification and a special ceremony,” he said, assuring that the process is routine and in order.
Political strategy and dialogue
Vawda emphasized that all political solutions lie with the Prime Minister and President. He suggested that meeting President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is the only path to resolving ongoing disputes.
He also noted that the presence and statements of Nawaz Sharif in the assembly indicate alignment with the government.
The Senator expressed support for KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, stating that any replacement would harm political credibility. “We have no problem with Faisal Karim Kundi remaining as Governor,” he said.
