The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistani embassies abroad have undergone major changes, with new ambassadors assuming charge in several countries, including Russia, the United Arab Emirates and Kyrgyzstan.
According to details surfaced on Saturday, senior appointments and transfers have been carried out at the Foreign Office and diplomatic missions. Faisal Tirmizi has assumed charge as Pakistan’s new ambassador to Russia in Moscow, while the former envoy, Khalid Khan Jamali, has been appointed the additional foreign secretary (Administration).
Pakistan’s new ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Shafqat Ali Khan, has reached Abu Dhabi and assumed his duties. Altamash Wazir Khan, previously Director General (Middle East), has been appointed ambassador to Kyrgyzstan. Zahid Hussain has taken over as Director General (Middle East), while the former ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Hasan Zaigham, has been posted as Director General (Central Asia).
Sources added that Bilal Chaudhry has been appointed Director General (South Asia). Hilal Chaudhry has replaced Ilyas Nizami as Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to Romania.
