Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district killed eight militants belonging to the group Fitna al-Khawarij during an intelligence-based operation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the operation, security forces effectively targeted the militants’ hideouts. A fierce exchange of fire took place, during which all eight Indian-backed militants were killed inside their sanctuary. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site.
The ISPR said the slain militants were involved in serious attacks against security forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians. A clearance operation is under way in the area to eliminate any remaining presence of militants.
According to the ISPR, every remaining element of the Indian-backed Khawarij will be eliminated. Security forces and law enforcement agencies remain determined to root out the menace of terrorism. The counter-terrorism campaign will continue with full resolve.
