The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Friday that weekly inflation increased by 0.49 per cent to reach 4.57 per cent.
According to details, prices of 24 essential items increased, while 8 recorded a decline. 19 items remained stable. This marked the third consecutive week of rising inflation.
Tomatoes, onions and eggs became more expensive. Tomato prices rose by 33 per cent, onions by 9 per cent, and eggs by over 2 per cent. The average price of tomatoes reached Rs328 per kilogram, with rates ranging between Rs170 and Rs420 per kilogram across different cities.
A 20-kilogram bag of flour increased in price by Rs30, bringing the average to Rs2,180. Prices ranged from Rs1,810 to Rs2,900 in various locations.
Sugar rose by Rs0.67, with the average cost reaching Rs185 per kilogram. In some cities, prices varied between Rs177 and Rs200 per kilogram.
Other items that became more expensive include wheat flour, garlic, potatoes, ghee, firewood and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Conversely, the price of live broiler chicken dropped by 6.38 per cent, while bananas became 5 per cent cheaper. Dal chana, basmati rice, dal moong, petrol and diesel also saw a decline in prices.
