Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani has halted the process of approving resignations submitted by PTI members from the chairmanship and membership of standing committees.
Sources divulged on Sunday that the Senate chairman has decided not to approve the resignations from standing committees at this stage. The government has asked him not to proceed with any action regarding the matter for the time being.
A uniform policy will be followed for the resigned chairmen and members of standing committees in both the National Assembly and the Senate.
Sources added the Senate chairman will wait for the decision of the National Assembly speaker, rather than make an individual decision on the resignations. He will also hold consultations with the Leader of the House before beginning any process related to the resignations.
