The renowned international examination board Oxford AQA has announced the inclusion of three new compulsory International GCSE subjects to meet the specific educational requirements of Pakistan.

The announcement was made at a ceremony organized by Oxford University Press (OUP) Pakistan at a local hotel in Karachi. Educationists, administrators, and stakeholders attended the event where the new additions to the curriculum were formally introduced.
New compulsory subjects for Pakistani students
With the latest update, Islamic Studies, Pakistan Studies, and Urdu will now become a regular part of the Oxford AQA International GCSE program. These subjects are designed to reflect Pakistan’s cultural and educational identity while maintaining global academic standards.

Administrators from Oxford University Press Pakistan emphasized that the inclusion of these subjects will better equip Pakistani students to face the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly competitive and rapidly evolving world.
They noted that the integration of national subjects into an international curriculum would help students balance global education with local values and identity.
