The federal government has granted permission to four hotels in the capital, Islamabad, to sell alcohol under specific conditions, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed the National Assembly during the Question Hour session.
License issuance and conditions
In his written reply about the details of permission for Islamabad hotels to sell alcohol, Mohsin Naqvi stated that liquor licenses have been issued to four hotels with strict conditions. Alcohol must be stored separately from other items, and hotel management is required to inform the excise officer concerned within seven days of any liquor consignment’s arrival.
Fees and renewal charges
The minister revealed that the fee for an L2 liquor license is set at Rs500,000, while the annual renewal costs Rs150,000. These licenses are subject to compliance with all stipulated regulations.
Authority to cancel licenses
According to the reply, the excise officer holds the authority to cancel a liquor license at any time without giving a reason, ensuring that the permissions are strictly regulated.
