Religious political parties across Pakistan have strongly rejected the Abraham Accords and reiterated their firm opposition to the two-state solution for Palestine and the recognition of Israel.
In a joint declaration issued after an all-parties conference hosted by the Milli Yakjehti Council in Islamabad, more than 25 prominent religious scholars and party leaders participated. The conference unanimously rejected the Abraham Accords, calling them a betrayal of the Palestinian cause.
Speaking at the event, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said Pakistan’s position has always supported a single, sovereign Palestinian state. “No matter what happens on the diplomatic front globally, Pakistan must continue to support an independent Palestinian state. Any move toward accepting Israel under the Abraham Accords will be resisted and those promoting it will face strong public backlash,” he said.
The conference also expressed solidarity with Iran’s right to develop nuclear energy and welcomed the restoration of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.
Milli Yakjehti Council President Abul Khair Zubair announced the formation of an action committee to counter what he described as efforts to undermine Islamic values, including legislation related to child marriage and family laws.
Participants demanded the government immediately convene an all-parties conference on the security situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and warned of nationwide protests if so-called “anti-Islamic legislation” was not withdrawn in accordance with the Islamic Ideological Council's recommendations.
The conference further urged the government to reduce inflation, lower fuel and utility prices, and provide urgent relief to those affected by recent torrential rains.
