The government has made significant changes in the Pakistan's Economic Survey 2024–25, notably reducing the volume of tax reliefs granted to various sectors, according to the document.
According to details surfaced on Sunday, a total tax relief of Rs2,434 billion has been granted during the current fiscal year. On June 9, the economic survey had shown a total of Rs5,840 billion in tax exemptions.
However, within a week, the volume of tax reliefs has been revised downward by Rs3,406 billion, the document reveals.
In the case of income tax, relief of Rs545 billion was granted instead of the previously stated Rs800 billion.
Under sales tax, exemptions of Rs1,237 billion were given, compared to the earlier figure of Rs4,253 billion.
Interestingly, in the head of customs duty, relief increased to Rs652 billion from the earlier figure of Rs178 billion.
