Two-time former world champions West Indies have failed to qualify directly for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup as the Caribbean side will have to go through the qualifier stage for the second consecutive time.
Afghanistan sealed their place after defeating Ireland in Belfast. Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh, South Africa and Zimbabwe have secured direct qualification for the World Cup.
West Indies, currently 10th in the qualification standings, still have two ODI matches against India before the September 30 cut-off date.
However, even two wins will not be enough for the Caribbean side to qualify directly for the tournament.
The top eight teams in the qualification standings, along with hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe, were required to secure direct qualification by the cut-off date.
West Indies will therefore have to play the World Cup qualifiers in February.
