Former chief justice and current Expediency Council chief Ayatollah Amoli Larijani has said that Iran will not back down from the Strait of Hormuz at any cost.
‘Iran has full sovereignty over strategic waterway’
According to Iran’s state broadcaster, Larijani said Iran’s enemies were trying to blockade the Strait of Hormuz. He said Iran had full sovereignty over the important and strategic waterway.
He made clear that Iran would not give up its position on the Strait of Hormuz under any circumstances.
It is pertinent to note that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei around the start of the president's third year in office in late July, state media said on Sunday, and a paramilitary leader promised footage of Khamenei in the future.
Pezeshkian had given differing accounts in recent weeks about his access to Khamenei, who has not been seen in public since he succeeded his father in the role in March.
