The government has decided to expand the Benazir Income Support Programme in the new fiscal year, increasing the number of beneficiary families under Budget 2026-27.
According to budget documents, the number of families eligible for BISP support will be increased from 10 million to 10.2 million in the new fiscal year.
The government has also decided to increase the sponsorship coverage target under BISP, allowing more low-income households to benefit from financial assistance.
Hunarmand programme to be expanded
The budget document shows that the BISP Hunarmand Programme will also be expanded during the new fiscal year.
The government has decided to accelerate implementation of the programme by including the learning programme, aimed at strengthening skills-based support for beneficiaries.
Families to receive support
Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Scheme, 36,676 families will receive assistance in the new fiscal year. In addition, 51,185 people will be taught various skills under the programme, according to the budget document.
