JD Vance announced that the United States could not reach a final agreement with Iran after lengthy negotiations.
Despite the deadlock, he described the discussions as “constructive” and said Washington is awaiting Tehran’s response.
Addressing a brief media briefing, JD Vance confirmed that talks between the US and Iranian delegations lasted more than 21 hours in Islamabad.
He said multiple critical issues were discussed in detail, but both sides ultimately failed to reach a final agreement.
“We are returning with the best offer,” Vance stated, adding that Iran did not accept Washington’s conditions.
US sets clear red lines
The US Vice President emphasized that a clear assurance is required from Iran that it will not develop nuclear weapons.
He said the United States demonstrated flexibility and goodwill throughout the negotiations, while also clearly outlining its red lines.
“This is our final offer,” Vance said, noting that proposals presented to Iran were “simple and excellent.”
Pakistan’s role in diplomacy
JD Vance expressed special gratitude to Shehbaz Sharif and Syed Asim Munir for their “excellent hosting.”
He acknowledged that Pakistan played a constructive and positive role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Asim Munir saw Vance off as he departed for the United States.
