Earlier, the Punjab government had rejected a proposal to close markets early, opting instead to keep businesses open until 10pm across the province.
According to sources close to the Punjab government, it had been agreed that markets across Punjab would remain open until 10pm. The decision comes after initial recommendations to reduce market hours could not be approved in the first phase.
Sources revealed that the proposal to close markets early as part of an austerity drive has been postponed for now. The recommendations were presented to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, but they did not receive approval at this stage.
