Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has felicitated Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The prime minister held a telephone conversation with King Abdullah II and conveyed Eid greetings to him and the people of Jordan. The Jordanian monarch extended greetings to the prime minister and the people of Pakistan in return.
Both leaders stressed the need for peace and harmony in the Muslim world and exchanged views on the prevailing situation in the Middle East. PM Shehbaz expressed deep concern over ongoing tensions and attacks in the region and condemned strikes on Jordan.
He conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Jordan in this difficult time and underlined the need for de-escalation and a diplomatic solution. The prime minister recalled King Abdullah’s visit to Pakistan in November last year and reaffirmed the resolve to further strengthen fraternal ties between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, investment and defence, and decided to remain in contact on bilateral and regional matters.
Meanwhile, the prime minister also spoke to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and extended Eid greetings to him, his family and the people of Türkiye.
Both leaders prayed for peace, unity and prosperity for the Muslim world. The prime minister reiterated condemnation of ongoing regional tensions, particularly missile attacks on Türkiye, and said the people of Pakistan stood with the Turkish nation.
They agreed that dialogue remained the only viable path to resolving the regional situation and also discussed developments in Afghanistan. The prime minister acknowledged Türkiye’s constructive role in efforts towards a temporary ceasefire during Eid.
Both sides reaffirmed continued cooperation across all sectors and agreed to maintain close contact for mutual interests and regional cooperation.
