The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the recent statement made by the United States Ambassador to Israel, terming it provocative and contrary to international law.
In a statement, the OIC said such inflammatory rhetoric would fuel extremism and embolden Israel to extend its occupation across the region. It added that such pronouncements encourage Israel’s control over the region and amount to an assault on the rights of the Palestinian people.
The organisation maintained that Israel’s conduct constitutes a grave threat to regional peace and stability, and indeed to the security and stability of the wider region.
Reaffirming its steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, the OIC said the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state remains their inalienable right.
It stated that a Palestinian state should be formed in accordance with the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds as its capital.
The condemnation follows remarks by the US Ambassador to Israel claiming that Israel holds the right to occupy the entire region.
