The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed satisfaction over the strengthening of cricket infrastructure in 2025 for the Champions Trophy – the first ICC major event hosted by Pakistan in 29 years.
According to a press release, the PCB’s stadium upgrade projects in 2025 have given Pakistan’s cricket infrastructure a new shape. Under the vision of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, stadiums were comprehensively renovated to host major international events.
Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, was rebuilt in record time, with the project completed ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. The stadium now featured modern dressing rooms, new enclosures, improved entryways, and advanced LED floodlights.
Significant improvements were also made to digital screens and broadcast facilities at Qaddafi Stadium. Prior to the Champions Trophy, Qaddafi Stadium hosted a tri-series involving New Zealand and South Africa.
Moreover, at the Karachi stadium, the dressing rooms, hospitality boxes and seating arrangements were upgraded.
Approval has also been granted for the second phase of construction at Karachi stadium.
Additional facilities for players and spectators have been added at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. The Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium returned to international cricket after 17 years, hosting a One Day International series against South Africa.
The statement maintained that the PCB plans to develop Muzaffarabad into an international cricket centre and construct a modern stadium in Islamabad.
