The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Thursday that the country's trade deficit has widened by $2.32 billion in the first quarter of the fiscal year.
Pakistan’s trade deficit rose to $9.36 billion in the first quarter of the current fiscal year (July–September), to mark an increase of 33 per cent compared to $7 billion during the same period last year.
The exports fell by 3.83 per cent, reaching $7.6 billion, while imports rose by 14.39 per cent to $16.97 billion.
In September 2025, exports stood at $2.5 billion, reflecting a 3.64 per cent increase from $2.41 billion in August 2025. However, compared with September 2024, exports dropped by 11.71 per cent, as the previous year’s figure exceeded $2.83 billion.
The volume of imports in September 2025 surpassed $5.84 billion.
The monthly trade deficit reached $3.34 billion, indicating a 16.33 per cent increase compared to the previous month. Year-on-year, the deficit rose by 46 per cent in comparison with September 2024.
