The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released its latest weekly inflation report on Friday, showing a decline of 1.34 per cent in the overall weekly inflation rate.
According to the details surfaced on Friday, the annual inflation rate now stood at 4.17 per cent. The prices of 18 essential items increased during the past week, while 14 items saw a decrease. The prices of 19 items remained stable.
High-speed diesel rose by Rs2.89 per litre, while the price of eggs increased by Rs2.89 per dozen. The cost of a domestic LPG cylinder went up by Rs1.42, and firewood increased by Rs7.98 per maund.
Essential food items such as rice, beef, lentils and potatoes also registered price increases.
In contrast, tomatoes saw a significant drop of Rs52.36 per kg, while chicken became cheaper by Rs58.27 per kg. A 20-kilogram bag of wheat flour decreased by Rs53.82.
Electricity charges fell by Rs0.32 paisa per unit during the week.
Other food items that recorded a decline in price include bananas, garlic, onions, chickpeas and dal mash.
Prices of items such as bread, fresh milk and curd remained unchanged during the reporting period.
