The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for possible urban flooding in Islamabad and northern areas of Punjab, as two more fatalities have been reported due to ongoing monsoon rains and flooding in the past 24 hours.
According to the NDMA, there is a risk of urban flooding over the next two to six hours in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum. Heavy rainfall is likely in these regions due to a prevailing weather system.
The authority has warned that intense rainfall could trigger landslides in hilly areas. Weak infrastructure in the affected zones may also sustain damage.
