The moon of Rabiul Awwal 1448 Hijri is likely to be sighted on August 14, with the first day of the Islamic month expected on Saturday, 15 August.
According to Suparco, the moon will be born at 10.37pm on August 12, while its age will be about 20 hours and 53 minutes at sunset on August 13.

The moon is not expected to be sighted on the evening of August 13. According to astronomical parameters, the moon will not be visible that day.
Along the coastal belt, there will be a gap of about 32 minutes between sunset and moonset on August 13, Suparco said.
If August 15 is declared the first day of Rabiul Awwal, the month of Safar will end on that date.
The final decision on the sighting of the Rabiul Awwal moon will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on the basis of credible testimonies.
