Travis Head has won Australia's top cricket honour for the second year in a row, beating Alex Carey by one vote to take the Allan Border Medal.
The opener received 153 votes, one more than wicketkeeper and South Australia team-mate Carey, while fast bowler Mitchell Starc finished three votes behind Head.
Fellow players, media representatives and umpires select the player of the year. The awards were presented at a function in Brisbane on Friday evening.
Head played 30 matches across all three formats during the 2025-26 international season and scored 1,437 runs.
His outstanding performance came in the second day of the Ashes Test against England in Perth, where he scored 123 from 83 balls to help Australia secure an eight-wicket victory.
Head then scored two more centuries in the Ashes series.
“To think that I've got two medals and my kids can look at them and I can tell them about it in 20 years' time is pretty cool,” Head said.
Head became only the fifth player to win the Allan Border Medal in consecutive years, following Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, David Warner and Shane Watson.
Starc's strong performances across Australia's 11 Tests during the season, including 31 wickets in the Ashes, earned him the Australian Test Player of the Year award.
Mitchell Marsh was named ODI Player of the Year, while Tim David received the Twenty20 Player of the Year award.
Earlier this year, Annabel Sutherland won the Belinda Clark Award for the second consecutive year. The award recognises Australia's best woman cricketer.
