Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has begun rehabilitation after suffering a knee injury, with medical staff confident that the issue is not serious, sources said.
According to sources, Shaheen Afridi has started his rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. The rehab is being carried out under the supervision of medical experts and trainers to ensure a safe and timely recovery.
Team doctors have recommended one week of rehabilitation for the left-arm pacer. Sources said Shaheen is responding well to treatment and will begin bowling again once the one-week rehab period is completed.
Injury sustained during BBL
Shaheen Afridi picked up the knee injury while fielding during the Big Bash League, sources confirmed. The injury raised initial concerns among fans, but medical assessments later ruled out any serious damage.
Sources emphasized that Shaheen Afridi’s injury is not serious and does not pose a long-term fitness risk.
If rehab progresses as planned, the fast bowler is expected to return to full training shortly, boosting Pakistan’s pace attack ahead of upcoming assignments.

On Dec 30, Shaheen suffered a knee injury while playing in Australia’s Big Bash League, raising concerns over his short-term availability.
Afridi picked up the injury during Brisbane Heat’s match against the Adelaide Strikers. According to sources, the fast bowler experienced discomfort in his knee that lasted for nearly an hour during the game.
The Brisbane Heat confirmed that Shaheen suffered a knee injury and that his rehabilitation process had begun. The franchise said his knee would be examined further once the team returns from Adelaide.
Brisbane Heat also confirmed that Shaheen Afridi would not take part in the upcoming match against Adelaide Strikers. Team officials said the decision was taken to avoid any risk of aggravating the injury.
