Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a policy for the export of halal meat.
According to details surfaced on Thursday, a review meeting on the halal meat export policy was held under the chairmanship of the prime minister. Directions were issued to present an implementation plan within two weeks to increase halal meat exports.
The prime minister gave special instructions for a comprehensive three-year implementation strategy to be submitted. PM Shehbaz maintained that Pakistan's share in the Muslim countries and global halal meat market become significant.
A collective strategy cannot succeed without coordination among the concerned ministries and provincial governments, the prime minister added.
He has instructed that the committee should propose actionable measures to improve production, cold storage, and other related factors. "Halal meat production in livestock must meet international standards," the premier maintained.
PM Shehbaz said that the special measures should be taken to increase regional production volumes, addinng that the organised centres are required to enhance halal meat production and nutritional value, he added.
