Economic cooperation remained the focus of talks in Manama as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Bahrain’s Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Defence Forces and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen bilateral cooperation. PM Shehbaz received a guard of honour on arrival at Qasr Al-Qudaibiya. He met the crown prince, the deputy supreme commander and prime minister, along with other senior leaders of Bahrain. Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthen Pakistan–Bahrain cooperation.

The prime minister thanked Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the warm reception. He praised Bahrain’s leadership for its role in strengthening bilateral relations and congratulated the country on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for two years.
The prime minister highlighted prospects for enhanced bilateral trade and said Pakistan sought to raise the present US$550 million trade volume to US$1 billion within three years.
He proposed stronger port-to-port links among Karachi, Gwadar and Khalifa Bin Salman Port. The meeting also covered defence and security cooperation. Both sides agreed to widen collaboration in training, cyber security, defence production and information exchange.
It is pertinent to note that the premier is on a two-day visit to Bahrain. He met the country’s senior leadership in Manama.
