Internationally acclaimed Palestinian footballer Suleiman Al-Obaid, famously known as the “Pele of Palestine,” was killed in an Israeli attack outside a relief center in Gaza. According to the Palestinian Football Federation, he was targeted while standing in a queue for humanitarian aid.
Al-Obaid had scored over 100 goals in his career, with his standout moment coming in 2010 when he netted a remarkable goal against Yemen. He was widely regarded as one of the finest footballers Palestine has ever produced.
He leaves behind his wife and five children.
According to Arab media, at least 321 football-related individuals—including players, coaches, referees, officials, and club board members—have been killed in Gaza since the beginning of the conflict.
