The Punjab government has issued clear directives to shift all salary disbursements for government employees to digital channels, putting an end to payments through cash and cheques.
According to an official notification issued on Tuesday, salaries will now be transferred directly into the bank accounts of government employees across the province. The move aims to enhance transparency, reduce the risk of financial mismanagement, and modernize the province’s payroll system.
“All government employees shall receive their salaries through their respective bank accounts starting from the next payment cycle,” the notification reads. It further confirms that salary payments via cheques or in cash have been discontinued with immediate effect.
Officials said the decision is part of broader financial reforms underway in Punjab to ensure accountability and efficiency in public sector transactions.
