The sixth round of nuclear talks scheduled to take place between Iran and the United States has been cancelled.
According to details, this was confirmed by Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, who announced the decision officially. Albusaidi stated that the talks between Iran and the US, initially scheduled for Sunday, will not take place. He emphasised that “the only viable path to sustainable peace lies in diplomacy and dialogue.”
Prior to this, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also issued a statement declaring the talks meaningless under the current circumstances. The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that, given the ongoing situation, Iran's primary focus is on countering the enemy’s aggression. He added that “engaging in dialogue with a party that is the main supporter and ally of the aggressor is fundamentally pointless.”
It is worth noting that just a day earlier, in the early hours of the morning, Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran. During the assault, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Army Chief, along with six scientists, were confirmed to have been martyred. According to reports, 78 Iranian civilians have lost their lives in the Israeli strikes, with more than 320 injured. Women and children are also among the deceased.
In retaliation, Iran launched over 200 ballistic missiles overnight, many of which reportedly struck targets in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The Israeli military claimed to have intercepted several missiles mid-air, although social media videos circulating online show missiles hitting buildings in Tel Aviv.
Initial reports said that four Israeli citizens have been killed, with more than 20 others injured in the Iranian strikes.
