A notable increase in flour prices was recorded in several cities across Pakistan during the past week, with the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag rising by up to Rs100 in some areas.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag increased by up to Rs100 in Karachi and Larkana. After the increase, the price reached Rs3,000 in Karachi and Rs2,600 in Larkana.
The data showed that Islamabad recorded the highest flour prices in the country, where the maximum price of a 20-kilogram bag reached Rs3,133. In Peshawar, the price reached Rs3,100, while in Rawalpindi it stood at Rs3,093.
According to the statistics, a 20-kilogram flour bag was sold for Rs2,960 in Bahawalpur and Rs2,950 in Bannu. In Hyderabad, Multan, Sialkot and Gujranwala, the price was recorded at Rs2,800, while Sargodha recorded Rs2,793 and Quetta Rs2,750.
The report stated that the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag increased by Rs60 in Sukkur during one week, reaching Rs2,560. In Bannu, the price rose by Rs50 to Rs2,950.
On the other hand, Lahore recorded a comparatively lower price among major cities, with a 20-kilogram flour bag selling for Rs2,300, while Faisalabad recorded Rs2,200.
