The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has pressed for special federal development packages for Karachi and Hyderabad.
The MQM-P delegation called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad ahead of the federal budget. During the meeting, the MQM-P placed its demands before the prime minister.
The delegation raised the issue of a constitutional amendment relating to the local government system.
The MQM-P also reiterated its demand for the reappointment of Kamran Tessori as the Sindh governor.
Separately, the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML) on Friday submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, setting out key economic recommendations for the federal budget 2026–27.
The memorandum was presented by the party’s Industry and Commerce wing, the Pak Traders Forum, and called for the complete abolition of the interest-based financial system in Pakistan.
The document stated that the country’s existing financial structure is based on interest and is causing increasing difficulties for the business community.
