Large-scale manufacturing output recorded an increase of 5.75 per cent during the first seven months of the current fiscal year, with the auto sector posting the highest growth of 67 per cent.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) issued its performance report on major industries, stating that production in more than 15 key sectors improved from July to January. The auto sector recorded the sharpest rise at 67 per cent, while output in other transport equipment exceeded 40 per cent growth.
During the period under review, furniture production rose by 13 per cent and tobacco by 10.71 per cent. Petroleum sector output increased by 11.71 per cent, while food, beverages, garments and rubber products also showed improvement.
On a year-on-year basis, industrial growth in January stood at 10.54 per cent. Production in January 2026 rose by 12.08 per cent compared with December 2025. However, performance in more than eight major industries, including leather, steel and fertiliser, remained weak during the first seven months.
