Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Friday that the historic Makkah Joint Defence Agreement had been signed, adding that the agreement was signed within the boundaries of the Holy Kaaba.
According to the Foreign Office, the Joint Defence Summit between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan was held at Al Safa Palace in Makkah. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the summit.
The Foreign Office spokesperson stated that Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan signed the defence agreement during the meeting. The agreement has been named the Makkah Defence Joint Agreement.
Under the agreement, an attack on any one of the three countries will be considered an attack on all three countries. The agreement aims to strengthen joint defence capabilities against any aggression and promote defence cooperation between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan.
