Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan have signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement to strengthen collective security, enhance defence cooperation and promote peace, security and stability in the region and beyond.
The agreement states that any armed attack against one of the three states will be regarded as an attack against them all. It also provides for stronger defence cooperation in all areas among the three countries.

According to a joint statement issued after the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit for Joint Defence, the agreement was signed by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Sharif visited Saudi Arabia on 7 August 2026 at the invitation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman received the two leaders at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah, where the summit reviewed the close relations between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, along with issues of mutual interest.
The joint statement said the agreement was based on the longstanding historical ties, brotherhood, Islamic solidarity, shared strategic interests and enduring defence cooperation among the three countries. It reflects their commitment to strengthening collective security and supporting a secure and prosperous future.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) spokesperson said the agreement is intended to strengthen the collective security of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. The three countries will also expand defence cooperation across all sectors.
