The Senate session witnessed strong protest by opposition members as Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presented the Finance Bill 2026 in the House during a meeting chaired by Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani.

Before the protest intensified, no PTI senator was participating in the Senate meeting. Later, PTI members reached the meeting and started sloganeering.
PTI members staged a strong protest in the Senate after arriving in the House. Opposition members shouted slogans against what they called a poor and rejected budget.
They also protested by banging their desks, creating noise and commotion during the proceedings.
Budget recommendations deadline
Senate Chairman Gilani said members could send their budget recommendations to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance by June 15. The recommendations will be reviewed as part of the parliamentary budget process.
During the session, prayers were offered for the martyrs of various tragedies. Prayers were also offered for former senator Taj Muhammad Afridi.
Senate session adjourned
Following the proceedings and opposition protest, the Senate meeting was adjourned until 12:30pm on Monday.
