Nintendo is set to raise the price of the highly demanded Nintendo Switch 2 amid what the company described as “challenging business conditions” and ongoing global economic uncertainty.
The upcoming price increase means US buyers may soon pay $50 more for the console, turning the current $449.99 price tag into roughly $499.99 by September.
The decision comes despite massive demand for the console over the past year. The Switch 2 launch triggered widespread shortages and buying frenzy across multiple markets.
Adding to Nintendo’s momentum, the recently released The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has reportedly earned more than $800 million globally, further strengthening the company’s gaming ecosystem.
Still, Nintendo says rising economic pressures are forcing the company to adjust pricing.
According to reports cited by the Associated Press, the US price hike will arrive by September, while Japanese customers are expected to see increased pricing later this month.
