The government has increased the prices of petroleum products once again, with petrol becoming dearer by Rs14.92 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs15 per litre.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs414.78 per litre, while high-speed diesel will cost Rs414.58 per litre.
Moreover, the price of kerosene oil has been reduced by Rs41.8 per litre. The price has been decreased from Rs360.76 to Rs318.96 per litre, as per the OGRA notification.
Light diesel oil prices have also been reduced by Rs21.70 per liter, bringing the rate down from Rs287.54 to Rs265.84 per liter.
Meanwhile, jet fuel used by aircraft has become more expensive, with prices increasing by Rs53.11 per liter — from Rs388.55 to Rs441.66 per liter. Following the sharp increase in jet fuel prices, airlines are expected to raise ticket fares.
The revised prices will come into effect from Friday midnight, the notification stated.
Earlier on April 30, the federal government had increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel once again.
The petrol price had been raised by Rs6.51 per litre to Rs399.86. High-speed diesel had been increased by Rs19.39 per litre.
