Islamabad United fast bowler Richard Gleeson has said he will adhere to basics rather than elaborate plans against Hyderabad Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell in Eliminator 2 of the Pakistan Super League at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.
Speaking to the media, Gleeson said Peshawar Zalmi had played well against the United, but added the side would not dwell on the past and would approach the next match according to plan. He said the team management had kept the squad united, with neither pressure nor weight of expectations on the players ahead of the encounter.
Gleeson said that the bowling combination was well balanced and said there would be no excessive planning against Maxwell and Labuschagne, with focus instead on fundamental aspects of the game.
He said that Hyderabad Kingsmen had been performing consistently well and said preparations would reflect their form.
Referring to crowd presence, Gleeson said spectators created a strong atmosphere, adding that while cricket without a crowd lacked appeal, the team remained professional regardless of conditions.
He expressed hope of dismissing the top three batters of Hyderabad Kingsmen.
Gleeson also remarked that he was a keen admirer of Pakistani cuisine.
The winner of Thursday’s match between Islamabad United and Hyderabad Kingsmen will advance to the final to face Peshawar Zalmi.
