Islamabad United secured a commanding victory over Hyderabad Kingsmen, prevailing by eight wickets in a one-sided Pakistan Super League encounter at the Karachi stadium on Friday.
The three-time champions dismissed the Kingsmen for a modest 80 in 15.5 overs, before completing the chase with ease, reaching the target with 80 balls to spare.
England fast bowler Richard Gleeson set the tone for United with an incisive spell, claiming three wickets and earning the player of the match award. He received able support from Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim, who also took three wickets apiece as the Kingsmen batting line-up faltered.
Usman Khan remained unbeaten with 25, the only notable contribution in an otherwise subdued innings. The Kingsmen lost wickets at regular intervals and never recovered from the early blows.
In reply, Islamabad United raced to 83 for two in just 6.4 overs. Mohsin Riaz struck a brisk 42 from 18 balls, while Sameer Minhas remained unbeaten on 27 to guide his side home comfortably.
