New entrants Rawalpindiz secured their first victory after eight successive defeats with a hard-fought win over Islamabad United in a derby fixture of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League.
After electing to field at the National Stadium, Karachi, Rawalpindiz restricted Islamabad United to 137 all out in 20 overs. Devon Conway led the scoring with 40, while Chris Green contributed a brisk 29 towards the close. Mohammad Amir and Saad Masood claimed two wickets apiece, with disciplined bowling maintaining pressure throughout the innings.
In reply, Rawalpindiz approached the modest target with caution after losing an early wicket. Mohammad Rizwan struck 45 and Kamran Ghulam added 42 to steady the innings. Daryl Mitchell remained unbeaten on 32 to guide his side in the closing overs, as Rawalpindiz reached 136 for four in 18 overs.
Islamabad United’s bowlers struggled to contain the chase despite efforts from Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan and Chris Green, each taking a wicket.
