Ongoing electricity load-shedding in the country has begun to affect telecommunication services, with Ufone users likely to face disruptions.
A Ufone spokesperson said frequent power cuts and prolonged outages were affecting the provision of telecom services. He said most telecom infrastructure in urban areas was equipped with backup battery systems; however, battery banks required at least three hours of uninterrupted electricity to achieve a full charge.
The Ufone spokesperson said that the continuous power cuts were disrupting the charging process, leading to a decline in backup capacity.
Ufone officials said services would return to normal once electricity supply stabilises.
