The much-anticipated web series The Pink Shirt is finally scheduled to release on April 24, 2026, marking the return of Wahaj Ali alongside Sajal Aly in one of the most awaited digital dramas in recent years.
Originally announced in October 2023 and screened at the SXSW Sydney Film Festival the same year, the series will now premiere on the Begin Watch platform after a lengthy delay that has only increased audience anticipation.
Directed by Kashif Nisar and written by Bee Gul, the eight-episode drama explores contemporary relationships through a realistic, character-driven narrative focused on love, heartbreak, emotional complexity, and personal growth. Sajal Aly plays Sophia, while Wahaj Ali portrays Umer, as the story unfolds in a grounded and reflective tone rather than conventional dramatic storytelling.
For Sajal Aly, the project arrives during a period of strong professional momentum. She is also set to appear in Zanjeerain, a highly anticipated drama that reunites writer Farhat Ishtiaq and director Shahzad Kashmiri, the team behind Yakeen Ka Safar. Produced by Momina Duraid Productions, the ensemble cast includes Ameer Gilani, Danyal Zafar, Sahar Hashmi, and Ahsan Khan, and is described as an unconventional love story with complex emotional layers.
Wahaj Ali, meanwhile, continues to maintain a strong presence in the industry following the international success of Tere Bin alongside Yumna Zaidi. His recent projects, including Sunn Mere Dil and Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi, have further solidified his popularity, even as he took a brief break from the screen.
Looking ahead, Wahaj is attached to several major projects. Among them is Mitti De Bawey, his first on-screen collaboration with Mahira Khan. Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, the drama has already generated significant online interest and is expected to release later in 2026.
He is also set to star with Mahira Khan in a special telefilm written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Shahzad Kashmiri, though further details remain undisclosed. Additionally, Tere Bin 2, reuniting Wahaj Ali with Yumna Zaidi, is officially in development, with filming expected to begin in mid-2026 and release likely in late 2026 or early 2027.
With The Pink Shirt leading this slate of projects, both actors appear poised for a defining phase in their careers, reflecting a growing shift toward more nuanced and layered storytelling in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
