Indian stand-up comedian Samay Raina has sparked controversy after making remarks about legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan in his recent stand-up performance, drawing reactions from several public figures including members of the Bachchan family.
Samay Raina, who gained popularity through his YouTube show India’s Got Latent, had recently returned to the spotlight after earlier controversies, including backlash over remarks made on one of his episodes.
His latest comedy special Still Alive initially received positive audience response, but has now triggered fresh criticism over his jokes about Amitabh Bachchan.
Reacting to the issue, Abhishek Bachchan said that while he and his family appreciate Samay Raina as an artist, there is a clear line between comedy and disrespect. He added that they had expected him to learn from previous controversies.
Actress Rakhi Sawant also strongly criticized the comedian, stating that he should not speak disrespectfully about Amitabh Bachchan. She added that she respects Abhishek Bachchan and warned Raina against making such remarks.
Actor Ajaz Khan also commented on the controversy, criticizing Raina’s language and questioning his behaviour, while expressing concern over comments made about such a senior and respected figure in Indian cinema.
