Another case of mpox has surfaced in Lahore, where the virus has been confirmed in an eight-year-old girl.
The affected child has been admitted to the isolation ward at Mayo Hospital, according to hospital authorities. She was brought in with a high fever and a rash on her body.
With this latest case, the number of reported infections in Lahore this year has risen to 27. Officials say the number of cases is increasing at a pace five times higher than last year.
Medical experts have warned that the virus is now spreading locally and may take the form of an outbreak if timely measures are not taken.
