Renowned Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar has expressed gratitude to God after securing victory in a defamation case against fellow singer Meesha Shafi.
In a post shared on Instagram, Ali Zafar stated that after a long and challenging legal process, he has finally received justice. The case lasted nearly eight years, with the verdict announced on March 31.
According to the court’s ruling, Meesha Shafi neither appeared for multiple hearings nor presented strong evidence to support her allegations. In contrast, Ali Zafar produced all his witnesses before the court, leading to a decision in his favor.
Breaking his silence two days after the verdict, Ali Zafar said he is thankful to God and deeply grateful to those who stood by him during difficult times and supported the truth.
He emphasized that he does not view this outcome as a victory to celebrate, but rather with humility and gratitude. For him, the real satisfaction lies in justice being served, not in defeating someone.
In his message, he further stated that he holds no negative feelings toward anyone and considers the matter now closed. He also prayed for everyone to move forward with dignity and peace.
It is worth noting that a Lahore court ordered Meesha Shafi to pay 5 million rupees in damages. The case began in 2018 when Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of harassment, after which he filed a defamation lawsuit. The case became one of Pakistan’s most prominent cases linked to the Me Too movement.
