Renowned Bollywood filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap has openly criticized the controversial film 'The Kerala Story 2', describing it as nothing more than propaganda.
He said the filmmakers prioritized profit over a serious subject and a strong narrative.
Released nearly three years after the first film, 'The Kerala Story 2', has once again sparked debate and controversy. The project has been produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh.
Speaking to the media at Kochi International Airport, Kashyap said the film aims to divide audiences and does not present a meaningful or fact-based story.
Referring to a controversial scene, he stated that such portrayals are far removed from reality and unnecessarily provocative. According to him, the purpose of such content is merely to attract attention and generate commercial gain.
Meanwhile, a legal challenge has also been filed against the film. Biologist Sridevi Namboodiri has submitted a petition to the Kerala High Court seeking to halt its release. The petition argues that certain elements of the film could harm social harmony.
Even before its release, the film has reignited debate over artistic freedom, social responsibility, and the use of sensitive subjects in cinema.
