In a major development for Pakistan hockey, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Interim President Mohiuddin Wani has announced the lifting of the two-year ban imposed on national team captain Ammad Butt.
The decision comes just a day after the former president of the federation had handed down the suspension.
Wani, who is also the secretary of interprovincial coordination (IPC), confirmed that the two-year ban on Ammad Butt has been withdrawn.
The suspension had been imposed a day ago by the previous PHF president, triggering concern within hockey circles. With the ban now lifted, the national hockey team captain is eligible to resume full participation in team activities.
Hope for revival, strengthening of hockey
Speaking about the broader vision for the sport, Wani expressed optimism about the revival and strengthening of hockey in Pakistan.
“I am hopeful for the revival and strengthening of hockey,” he said, emphasizing the need to restore the national game’s past glory.
He added that the greatness of hockey must be brought back through collective efforts and institutional coordination.
The interim president announced that the team management will be reorganized as part of broader reforms. He urged players to focus completely on training and matches, stressing discipline and performance as key priorities.
