The Punjab government has approved an ambitious plan to build a 40-kilometer-long green corridor in Lahore to combat rising air pollution and smog.
The corridor will stretch from Shahdara to Raiwind, transforming the area along the railway track into green belts.
According to details, the project will include recreational spaces for citizens at various points and repurposed railway carriages into libraries and cafés to enhance public engagement.
The initiative is estimated to cost over Rs2.35 billion and will cover approximately 700 kanals. The Punjab Housing Department has announced that the green corridor will be completed within one year. The project is part of a broader effort to address Lahore's environmental and public health challenges.
