The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has claimed that its election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan is being affected after party leaders, parliamentarians and workers were allegedly prevented from entering the region.
The claim was made in a statement issued after a meeting of the PTI’s political committee.
According to the statement, the party's political committee discussed its election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The committee said the PTI’s campaign activities were being disrupted and that the party was being denied its basic democratic right to run an election campaign.
Party leaders, workers stopped
The PTI alleged that its leadership, parliamentarians and workers were prevented from entering Gilgit-Baltistan. The committee also said that no-objection certificates were not issued to party representatives, which it described as an undemocratic restriction on political activity.
The party said it would expose what it called an undemocratic process at every level. PTI maintained that it would not allow any attempt to rob the people of their mandate.
Gilgit-Baltistan voters will respond
The political committee said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan would respond to the alleged injustice through their votes. PTI added that it would continue its struggle until true democracy is restored in the country.
