The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has constituted its Punjab Committee for the 2026-27 term as part of its organizational arrangements for the upcoming year.
According to a statement issued by the CPNE, senior media professional Farrukh Shahbaz Warraich has been included among the committee members entrusted with advancing the organization's goals across Punjab.
Committee composition
Other members of the newly formed committee include Kazim Khan, Irshad, Zulfiqar Ahmed Rahat, Ali Ahmed Dhillon, and Tanveer Shaukat.
The committee has been established to protect the interests of member newspapers and periodicals operating in Punjab and to strengthen the role of the print media sector.
Promoting professional journalism
The committee will work to enhance professional standards in print journalism through the organization of workshops, seminars, and other professional development activities.
It will also support the CPNE Standing Committee in arranging meetings, conferences, and events throughout the province.
Under its mandate, the committee will examine issues affecting the press and submit recommendations to the CPNE Standing Committee for consideration.
The body will also organize programs aimed at highlighting the importance of a free and responsible press and its role in society.
The CPNE said the committee would play an important role in strengthening the newspaper industry and promoting constructive engagement on matters affecting journalism and media organizations in Punjab.
The announcement forms part of the council's preparations and organizational framework for the 2026-27 term.
